Greetings Visitors!
Welcome to my Kindergarten classroom web page! I’m Mrs. Amy Monteiro. The 2011-2012 school year is my 18th year working in early childhood education and 12th year teaching Kindergarten (11th in Westwood). I created this page to quickly and easily communicate back-and-forth with the families of the children in my class and I welcome anyone to post comments and questions to me (or to the other families) through this site. Please check back often to stay up to date with what’s going on in our classroom. You can subscribe through an rss feed reader (feed button is at the bottom left hand corner of this page) or below to receive posts via email. I’m looking forward to another fun year in KM!

Nice to be recognized…
...although it was only by some silly teacher website with no real credence. Now if it was awarded by the MTA or NEA, this button would appear right at the top of the page!

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has sent in box tops to raise money for our school. It can sometimes be difficult to keep track of them when they come in just 1 or 2 at a time though! It would be very helpful for Mrs. Holbrook if you could collect them someplace at home and send them in to school when you have collected a bunch (maybe 20 or more). Thank you.

Also, please accept my apologies for not updating the calendar recently. The school’s firewall has blocked me from getting to Google Calendar so I have not been able to update it from school. Soon I will be changing the calendar format to one which I CAN update from school so keep checking!

pumpkin.gifCheck out a few pictures from our trip to Fox Hill Village yesterday. Click on the Photo Gallery and enter the password. If you can’t remember the password, email me and I will send it home to you in your child’s VIP.

* The Red Sox are playing in the World Series beginning at 8:00 tonight (as if anyone here doesn’t already know that!) While I understand the kids are very excited about this and want to watch the game, please, please, please, put them to bed on time during the week! They can always watch the highlights in the morning over a bowl of cereal! Let them stay up late to see the weekend games if they are die hard fans!

* Tomorrow we are going to Fox Hill Village to show off our costumes and to see a Magic Show! Please remember to send your child’s costume to school in a labeled bag.

* With the cooler weather coming, please remember to label ALL clothing that may be removed during the day (including sweaters and sweatshirts). Hats (especially Red Sox caps), mittens, jackets, etc. (even lunch boxes) often get left behind and could disappear forever in the Sea of Lost and Found if not labeled.

* Children will NOT be wearing costumes at school on Halloween but they are certainly welcome to wear Halloween colors (orange, black, purple), do their hair up funky, and even wear face paint. All hair and make-up must be done at home before coming to school.

lunchbag.gifFoodPlay! This morning the actors from www.foodplay.com came to Sheehan and put on a play for the school about healthy eating and exercise. Ask your child what he/she learned and check out their website for more information

Don’t forget we will be visiting Fox Hill Village next Thursday. Please send your child’s costume to school. We will get dressed here before getting on the bus. Please leave accessories like wands and swords at home to avoid the possibility of losing them. Thanks to all families for getting permission slips back on time!

red-sox-logo.jpgThis Friday, October 12 will be Red Sox Day at the Sheehan School. If you support the home team as they go for the AL Championship, wear your red, white, and blue, or your Red Sox shirts to school on Friday.

Also, remember that tomorrow is an Early Release Day!
