I just wanted to write a quick post to say thank you all for such nice gifts for the baby! The book that the kids made for me was very cute and very well put together. Im sure he/she will enjoys it for years to come. And the gift card will come in handy because, even though this is baby #3, there are always a few things that we need from Babies-r-Us! While I was sad to say goodbye to the class, I was also starting to get quite uncomfortable sitting in little chairs all day and I think they are going to do great with some fresh energy in the room for the last few weeks of school. I will be back to visit with the baby as soon as he/she arrives and we get settled into our new routine. Thanks again!
I have sent email invitations to everyone who replied to the conference sign up form with the date and time assigned to you for your child’s spring conference. Please respond to the email invitation so that I know you received it and whether or not you will be able to make the time given. If you did NOT receive and email invitation, please email me and let me know so I can fix the problem! I’m still waiting to receive sign up forms back from two families (you know who you are)!
Please get them back to me as soon as possible.
Also, on the day of your conference, please arrive on time or a few minutes early as I am on a very tight schedule (15 conferences nearly all back to back on the 4th alone) and I intend to be strict about my end times so that parents who have other conferences right afterwards will not be late and so that I do not get backed up. Let’s all try to be respectful of each others time.
I will be sending home a pre-conference questionnaire today in the children’s VIP’s. Please be sure to get these back to me by the FRIDAY BEFORE YOUR CONFERENCE. It is important that I get these back early so that I can be prepared for your conference, especially with the strict time constraints we are under. Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to the questionnaire.
Writer’s Workshop has been in high gear producing so many comic books! The children have amazed me with how creative and passionate they have been through out the process of writing their comic books. We have learned that good graphic novelists use speech bubbles and sound effects to enhance and move along the story plot. We have learned that some comics are funny, some have villains, and some are pure fantasy. The children are coming towards the end of the unit and I have planned to celebrate their hard work next week by inviting other classes to come down and hear them read their finished comic. It has been such a wonderful experience to work with the entire kindergarten in Writers’ Workshop!
