Greetings Visitors!
Welcome to my Kindergarten classroom web page! I’m Mrs. Amy Monteiro. The 2011-2012 school year is my 18th year working in early childhood education and 12th year teaching Kindergarten (11th in Westwood). I created this page to quickly and easily communicate back-and-forth with the families of the children in my class and I welcome anyone to post comments and questions to me (or to the other families) through this site. Please check back often to stay up to date with what’s going on in our classroom. You can subscribe through an rss feed reader (feed button is at the bottom left hand corner of this page) or below to receive posts via email. I’m looking forward to another fun year in KM!

Nice to be recognized…
...although it was only by some silly teacher website with no real credence. Now if it was awarded by the MTA or NEA, this button would appear right at the top of the page!

Archive for November, 2011

On Wednesday, November 23 the three Kindergarten classes will be hosting their annual Thanksgiving Performance at 11:30. A more formal invitation will be coming soon but I wanted to ask everyone to please let me know as soon as possible if your child will NOT be in school that day due to holiday travel. The children will all be learning lines for the show and I don’t want to assign solo lines to someone who we know will not be there. Drop me an email or post a comment to this post letting me know. Thank you!

The school store will be open at lunch time on Friday. Children can bring any amount of money, not to exceed $5, to spend at the store. This is not mandatory! Please only send in money if you want you child to buy little things like pencils and erasers and small toys. If you choose to send in money with your child for the school store, we have a few rules in KM to manage things easily and smoothly.

All money for the school store MUST come to school in a zip top baggie or sealed envelope.

The baggie or envelope MUST be labeled with your child’s name AND the words SCHOOL STORE so we know who the money belongs to and what it is intended for.

The baggie or envelope MUST come to school IN YOUR CHILD’S VIP, not in their pocket or lunch box!

Mrs. D and I truly appreciate you sticking to these rules as it makes the morning go more smoothly in preparing for the school store and it prevents tears from lost/misplaced money, especially at the last minute.

Also, the student council is collecting money for Turkey’s For America this month. Please send in any spare change to donate to this cause. (See why we want to be sure all money that comes to school labeled for it’s purpose!) Thanks!
