Greetings Visitors!
Welcome to my Kindergarten classroom web page! I’m Mrs. Amy Monteiro. The 2011-2012 school year is my 18th year working in early childhood education and 12th year teaching Kindergarten (11th in Westwood). I created this page to quickly and easily communicate back-and-forth with the families of the children in my class and I welcome anyone to post comments and questions to me (or to the other families) through this site. Please check back often to stay up to date with what’s going on in our classroom. You can subscribe through an rss feed reader (feed button is at the bottom left hand corner of this page) or below to receive posts via email. I’m looking forward to another fun year in KM!

Nice to be recognized…
...although it was only by some silly teacher website with no real credence. Now if it was awarded by the MTA or NEA, this button would appear right at the top of the page!

Don’t be scared by the subject! There are still 44 days left this school year! But, we have come to the end of the Kindergarten literacy home activities! I have some first grade activities that would be appropriate to keep plugging ahead with that I will send home. Most of these activities are beginning of first grade/review of Kindergarten activities. The difference being that the first grade activities mention using letter “tiles” rather than the blue plastic letters you have been using. For the most part, substituting the letters you have will work just fine. In a few instances though, it may suggest you work on words that have, for example, 2 t’s…and you don’t have 2 t’s! You must decide for yourself if you would like to play the games and just skip the words that use any double letters, play the games and substitute letters you might have around the house (magnetic letters for the fridge, scrabble letters, etc.), or not play the games at all and send your blue letters back to school. It is up to you.

There are still a few more math games for K so keep your frogs for now even if you decide to send the letters back.
