Let It Snow??? Oh, NO!

Now that the weather has brought us snow the children need to be prepared to play outdoors.  The rule at the Sheehan School is you must have on mittens/gloves, snow boots and snow pants to be able to play out in the snow.  If a child does not have these items on, they can only play in areas where there is no snow. This often means the hard top area is the only place they are allowed and this can make them feel very sad as their friends are out playing without them.

Please make sure your child is dressed in a dry set of clothes under their snow pants.  It gets very warm in our classroom so children will be very uncomfortable sitting in wet hot snow pants all day if they are not dressed under them.

Please make sure they have shoes to change into.  When their snow boots are wet they track snow and mud through areas in which other children need to sit.  It also makes it dangerous when the floor is wet, children slip and fall.

When the ground is covered with ice we often keep the children in due to safety concerns however we will go out all other times unless the temperature is below 15 degrees.  Thank you for helping us to keep your children dry, warm, and safe during this snowy time of year.

One more thing, we go out twice a day…PLEASE help your child to learn how to zip their jacket on their own! We lose time on learning zipping 50 jackets every day!
