The Countdown Is On!
Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers
Greetings Visitors!
Welcome to my Kindergarten classroom web page! I’m Mrs. Amy Monteiro. The 2010-2011 school year is my 17th year working in early childhood education and 11th year teaching Kindergarten (10th in Westwood). I created this page to quickly and easily communicate back-and-forth with the families of the children in my class and I welcome anyone to post comments and questions to me (or to the other families) through this site. Please check back often to stay up to date with what’s going on in our classroom. You can subscribe through an rss feed reader (feed button is at the bottom left hand corner of this page) or below to receive posts via email. I’m looking forward to another fun year in KM!

If there happens to not be school tomorrow due to snow, Look Alike Day will be on Friday instead.

63587_ag06_m1_ccr.jpgmen-s-jeans-pj-2308.jpgTomorrow is Look-Alike Day at the Sheehan School. KM has decided to include everyone in our class by all dressing alike tomorrow rather than each person trying to find a partner. We decided that most people probably have blue jeans (or dark blue pants) and some sort of red top (or pink if you don’t have red) that they could wear (or borrow) so that is what we will wear to school tomorrow. Remember, tomorrow is also an Early Release Day!

Does anyone have pictures of any classroom events that took place this fall? Our Fall bulletin board which is usually full by now remains empty! I’d love any pictures you have from the Fox Hill field trip, Halloween, the Thanksgiving show, etc. You can send hard copies in your child’s VIP or email them to me and I can print them here at school. Come to think of it, if you can email them to me there may also be a few I can use in our classroom portfolio for our upcoming NAEYC Accreditation as well! Thanks in advance for any you can send.

Also, while we really appreciate the Box Tops that you send in to school, they sometimes get lost when they are sent in loose in a VIP. It would make life a bit easier for Mrs. Holbrook if you could collect them at home and when you have a bunch (say at least 20 or so) send them in a small zip top bag in your child’s VIP. Thanks a bunch!

The next School Store will be on Friday, February 6th (not this Friday). If you could please let your class know, we’d really appreciate it!

KM Families, With the winter months upon us, it is really important that we have measures in place to keep us healthy in the classroom and prevent the spread of germs. I have noticed that we are running low on tissues, disinfecting wipes (to wipe our snack table down) and “Wet Ones” wipes. If you would like to donate these items to our classroom we would really appreciate it. Because our storage space is limited, please send it just one item according to the following list: Children with last names A-H please send in a box of tissues, K-M please send in a container of disinfecting wipes, and N-Z please send in a container of “Wet Ones” (or other kid-friendly hand wipes). Thank you so much. Hopefully we can avoid a few unnecessary colds and absences!
