Congratulations to all KM kids for surviving the first “lunch” week of school! They seem to be having a good time in the cafeteria and are enjoying their new fifth grade friends at recess and during Reading Buddies time. We have spent some time exploring with new Math materials, opening a few new centers, and we’ve had our first succesful Open Circle. Overall, I think we’ve had a very successful week. Next week we will see how we will survive staying until 3:10 on Wednesday! I’m expecting some very tired children (and teachers) going home at the end of the day!
Some important dates to remember (hopefully I will get that new online calendar up and running on the site this weekend):
October 8 No School
October 10 and 24 Early Release Days
October 25 Field Trip to Fox Hil Village (more info coming in the next few weeks)
Conferences begin in October. If you have forgotten your conference time, please email me and I’ll send you a reminder.
Please be on the lookout next week for some fun alphabet games to be coming home and a letter about our All About Me days!
Just want to remind you that today is an Early Release Day! Kids will go home with grades 1-5 using their morning transportation. Walkers will be released via the blue door between KM and KP. Please meet your Kindergartener by the blue door BEFORE meeting your older child/children at the crossing guard. Thank you!
On our website you will find information about the fun things that are happening in and around our classroom and our school. Our class “Calendar” provides information about upcoming events in and around KM. The “Newsletter” has a copy of the current month’s newsletter that has gone home in everyone’s backpack. Our “Curriculum” link lets you know what we are learning at this time of year.“Book Lists” is a tool for parents to help choose the best books from our monthly Scholastic Book Order. Top picks for read alouds and beginning readers are listed and updated each month as the order forms go home. The “Photo Gallery” will have pictures of our classroom and activities that go on in our room, in our school, and on our field trips.
Other Important Education Sites that we are linked to are the Sheehan School website, the Westwood Public Schools website, and the Massachusetts Department of Education website. You can find all sorts of information on these sites such as the school lunch menu, the district calendar and that all important MCAS information!
Finally, if you have any questions for me at all, you can always email me at the “E-mail Mrs. Monteiro” link! I hope this site is helpful, that you check back often, and I hope we all have a great Kindergarten year!
